Supplemental Fund Raising 2008-09 Theme:

“Many Hands Together Supporting Christ Church”

(Otherwise known as the total “We” approach to supporting the church)

 Some thoughts from Susan Upham, (New) Chairperson

  I start my work at the new Chairperson of the Supplemental Fund Raising Committee with admittedly some nervousness.  Can I do this?  Will I have enough help?  Can we succeed in continuing the excellent legacy of hard work and faithfulness offered previously by Arlene Hoffman and the numerous members of the committee over the years?  (We all offer so many thanks to them for their tireless efforts!)

This is a large task and we have numerous projects to complete and goals to accomplish over the next year.  In moving forward, we will be looking to expand the scope of involvement of our church members so as to keep the load manageable and avoid volunteer burn-out.  I always remember Arlene updating us on the success of her projects by saying something along the lines of ….many hands keep the load light.  So I think it is befitting that we honor Arlene’s legacy by adopting “Many Hands Together Supporting Christ Church” as our theme for the next year.

 So what does that mean….what would we like to see happen over the coming year?

 First of all,  “I” need to get as far away from the “I” mindset as possible.  Instead, “We” need to create the total “We” approach to task completion.  “We” hope for the following:

Every individual (100% of the church members) committing some amount of time/talent/support in some way to at least one project during the year.  That would be so awesome!  Remember, “all”  together we can weave a very strong church family tapestry!

Seriously consider this – find your niche – make your “difference” reach out your hand…
